Livia Fălcaru is an illustrator and visual artist currently living and working in Bucharest, Romania. Her work is above all influenced by her personal experiences as a woman living in these times. The Romanian artist often finds herself fascinated by daily life and the emotions we might all feel but never care to mention. Although her illustrations are immersed in cheerful colors, the subjects approached are usually an in-depth view of raw emotions and realities, that ultimately serve as a medium for real and honest communication.

We are often amazed when we see rich people buying paintings for millions of dollars. But, have you ever wondered why they pay such a ridiculous amount of money for art The reason might not lie in the art, but in Taxes. Let me explain -
Let's say you are a billionaire and you don't want to pay millions in taxes. So to avoid this, you will buy a painting worth $20 million. Then, you send the painting you purchased directly to a freeport, to avoid paying both sales and use tax.
Sales Tax - Sales tax has to be paid in the country in which the sale occurs. If the artwork is sold by the collector, dealer, gallery, or auction house, the seller will collect the tax from the buyer and then transfer it to the government.
This is how the value of painting gets blown out of proportion. So if you think you're the only one who can't understand the valuation of these paintings, just remember, in most cases, it has nothing to do with the painting.

Originalswill always cost more and have a higher resale value than a print by the same artist as they take longer to create. However, if an artist releases a print in a very low run, demand, and therefore resale value, is likely to increase.
